Winter-proofing Your Home

When it comes to heating in Cottonwood Arizona, TDK Comfort Systems are the professionals you know and trust. We want all of our customers to stay comfortable throughout all seasons while also saving money. Here are a few easy tips to keep your home toasty and your wallet full this winter:

  1. Ditch the draft. Small air leaks are one of the leading causes of wasted heating energy. Door thresholds are a major source of lost hot air. If you can see air from outside coming in from underneath your door, you are losing heat. If your threshold has screws, you can use them to raise it up using a screwdriver. If not, you can buy a product designed to slide underneath your door or you can even use a rolled up towel. You are also going to want to replace any old, worn out weather stripping around your doors or windows.  Finally, use silicone caulk or insulation foam to seal any holes that lead to the outside of your home.
  2. Seal your windows and arcadia doors. You lose a lot of heat through your glass. Purchase a sealing film for a few dollars at Home Depot or Ace. The film will reduce energy loss and you won’t even notice it if it is installed correctly. It will also be easy to pull off when it starts to warm up.
  3. Make your fans work for you. Run your ceiling fans backwards to help circulate warm air throughout your home.
  4. Bundle up. Dress in warm clothes even if you are inside. This will help you keep your heat lower and still stay warm.

Follow these easy tips to stay warm and save money this winter. Your wallet will thank you later.
